Masco Corporation (NYSE:MAS) is one of the world’s largest manufacturers of brand-name consumer products for the home and family. A Fortune 500 company, Masco’s products include faucets, kitchen and bath cabinets, bath and shower units, spas and hot tubs, shower and plumbing specialties, electronic lock sets and other builders’ hardware, air treatment products, ventilating equipment and pumps.
Masco Corporation Foundation (formerly known as the Masco Charitable Trust) was established by Masco in 1952 to achieve key corporate objectives. The Foundation is funded with contributions from Masco Corporation and supports a variety of 501(c)3 charitable organizations. In harmony with its mission to manufacture high quality, high value building and home improvement products, Masco places an emphasis on financial and in-kind product support to not-for-profit organizations that promote decent housing environments for disadvantaged, low-income families. Masco also actively supports a number of very specific arts, cultural, educational (through our matching gifts program), human service and civic initiatives in the cities where it does business or where a long-term relationship exists.

Masco is intent upon creating strategic partnerships that support its corporate goals, objectives and mission, while providing important funding to results - oriented, well managed, not-for-profit organizations. Masco’s Foundation is the primary source for charitable giving by Masco Corporation. On occasion, Masco may elect to use corporate funds and in-kind product donations to support programs that conform to our community investment program objectives.
Priority Focus
The same Priority Focus used by the Foundation serves as the basis for evaluating proposals supported with corporate funds. Masco Corporation, with the Foundation as its vehicle, concentrates its community investment efforts in programs that:
- Enhance Masco’s visibility, influence and reputation as a responsible corporate citizen within the community and reflect favorably on the entire Masco family of companies, its employees, stockholders, products and services;
- Link Masco’s community investment activities directly to successful short and long term business strategies;
- Strengthen community institutions that improve the quality of life for the local community and Masco employees residing there;
- Stimulate low-income housing and community development in Masco’s market areas, thereby improving business opportunities for the company (& customer companies); and
- Receive significant, active support from Masco employees serving as volunteers and donors.
Funding Limitations
Organizations and projects that fall within the following categories will generally be deemed ineligible for funding by Masco Foundation:
- Organizations that do not have a 501(c)3 public charity status;
- Organizations that discriminate, on any basis, in violation of federal, state or local laws;
- Loans or funds for debt retirement;
- Endowment support;
- Political organizations, candidates for political office, and organizations whose primary purpose is to influence legislation;
- Athletic clubs, sports programs and events, and school extracurricular activities;
- Religious or sectarian programs for religious purposes;
- Gifts to individuals, or organizations benefiting few people; and
- Conferences, travel, seminars, film and video projects.
Preliminary Application Process
If, after having reviewed our guidelines, the proposal appears to conform to Masco’s priority giving specifications, applicants are encouraged to make informal inquiries in advance of a formal application.

Submitting A Grant Request
Once the request is deemed appropriate, a submission containing the following elements is generally required in order for the proposal to receive further consideration:
- A brief description of the organization, its history, its purpose, and the project for which funding is requested;
- Amount and purpose of the grant;
- A summary of anticipated sources of revenue, including a list of the top 10 contributors to the project and amounts contributed;
- An audited financial statement and/or Annual Report;
- Proof of 501(c)3 tax-exempt status;
- A list of board members and their affiliations;
- A set of measurements by which the program grant’s effectiveness can be evaluated;
The Common Grant Application developed by the council of Michigan Foundations is accepted by Masco. Requests from organizations serving communities with Masco operations must be reviewed and approved by the manager of the local operation prior to submission to the Foundation.
There are no deadlines for grant submissions. Decisions, regardless of outcome, will generally be communicated within six weeks of receipt.
